Innovation

Marston have been at the forefront of innovation leading the way through the introduction of “stop and check” style mobile enforcement, cross agency operations and joint agency working for common benefit. These include:

We work closely with the police as part of the extended police family to tackle persistent offenders and evaders from many fields.

Using ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) technology, Marston use a mobile camera to capture the vehicle registration details which are then screened through Marston national database to match the details with any outstanding cases which are on our system.

Marston Group is the only civil enforcement company able to meet police requirements and provide a total solution. Our innovation has been recognised by national awards and accolades.

Case Study

Operation Wendy – High Profile Multi-Agency Operations

In response to public concerns over safety of lone females travelling at night, Marston pioneered the award winning "Operation Wendy" which targeted unlicensed mini-cabs.

Since concept and subsequent development with Westminster City Council and the Metropolitan Police Service, Marston has co-ordinated multi-agency operations across the country.

Operation Victory and a further 38 such operations (including Operation Glad attended by The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone) built on the Metropolitan Police Service’s Operation Strongbox and involved Marston, the Police (and Traffic Wardens), Transport for London, the Local Authority, DVLA, HM Immigration and DWP in targeting illegal mini-cab operations.

The ongoing operations, now involving several London authorities and funded partly by the Metropolitan Police Service, make an impact on serious crime, improve the safety of the public and recover otherwise uncollectable revenue. Just under £150,000 has been collected in respect of outstanding court fines, penalty charges and over 1,000 unlicensed or dangerous vehicles have been removed from the streets and hundreds of arrests made.

At the British Parking Awards, Operation Wendy, was commended under 'Best On-street Operation' (for Westminster City Council, Marston and the Metropolitan Police).
